BGA were instructed to design a new scheme that involved a master plan of a new build house, cart lodge, and stables set in a stunning location within 7 acres of land.
The client had chosen a house they wanted from an Oak frame company that they wished to build and instructed BGA Architects to submit an application for planning approval
However, on seeing the design of the off-the-shelf oak frame house, BGA Architects had concerns that the design was not maximising the sites full potential and provided the client with an alternative design that would exploit the site and provide key views to the surroundings, which was noted when carrying out the site analysis.
The first design change was to position the main living area and kitchen on the first floor along with the Master Bedroom and move the remaining bedrooms to the ground floor.
With the main living areas now on the first floor it allowed us to maximise the views of the site by repositioning the glazing, BGA designed a section of the south facing elevation to cantilever out of the first floor which enabled 180-degree views of the site when stood within the projected space, as well as a double flue chimney that accomodated a BBQ on the external balcony and for a fireplace internally.
The oak frame company agreed to make a bespoke design based on BGA Architects drawings, with the project now completed the clients could not express enough how happy they were with the design alterations.
