St Nicholas Church

BGA Architects is working with the Parochial Church Council on proposals to repair the spire of the Grade II* listed St Nicholas Church in Great Wakering, Essex.

The proposed works focus on replacing deteriorated timber cladding to restore weather protection and safeguard the structure. Removal of the existing cladding will allow the underlying timbers to be inspected, with localised repairs undertaken where necessary. Associated works include repairs to the weathervane and adjustments to the lightning protection system.

Our approach combines practical repair solutions with careful consideration of materials and finishes, respecting the church’s historic character. The project aims to secure the long-term preservation of this distinctive local landmark.
