TAWNY AVENUE

BGA Architects were instructed to extend and adapt a semi-detached traditional house into a contemporary house fit for modern family living.

A modern single storey rear extension, with internal alterations was proposed which introduced additional natural light in to the building. This was achieved by a lean to glazed roof over the stair well with large flat rooflights on the rear extension.

Two contrasting ceiling heights to the rear extension provided drama to the space.

The initial concept of the extension was for an informal open plan kitchen/living area. The original design focused around a central open fireplace, however due to budget constraints this was later adapted and simplified.
